A. ENEMY FORCES. ENEMY’S COMPOSITION, DISPOSITION, STRENGTH: Our enemy is a paramilitary/insurgent group known only as “The Brotherhood of the Crescent Moon”. We believe the enemy forces in our AO consist of up to a company’s size of motorized and regular infantry, with some armor elements such as APCs and IFVs at their disposal to the north. The enemy utilizes various camouflage patterns, may blend in with civilian populace, and uses russian weaponry (see AK-47, RPG, etc.). The enemy is known to utilize technicals (repurposed civilian vehicles) with differing armaments, and have been using IEDs (improvised explosive devices), tripwire mines and guerilla tactics against our forces. The enemy is holding and reinforcing positions of strategic value inside the city of AROBSTER, with their forces concentrated to the north and east around these areas: FIRESTATION, COMPOUND, RADIO TOWER, FOB AROBSTER. The enemy has a numerical superiority, however their ground troops are disorganized and lack a central command structure. The enemy’s presence is weaker to the south of the city. ENEMY’S CAPABILITIES & LIMITATIONS: The enemy are able to act in smaller independent groups, and may thus stretch our defensive lines or delay our operations. Our intelligence has estimated that there’s at least 1x platoon of BMP-2’s to the north of AROBSTER, with at least two tanks, (presumed T-55 or T-72) operating in the valley due north. The enemy may reinforce their positions from the north across the riverbed and deploy vehicles against our positions. The enemy has placed mines on four fields to the WEST/SOUTH of the city, limiting our area of entry. ENEMY’S MOST LIKELY COURSE OF ACTION: We believe the enemy are holding their positions, and are reinforcing their perimeter defense around the town. Once we have engaged the enemy, we may see the enemy sending reinforcements from within AROBSTER and the north towards us. ENEMY’S MOST DANGEROUS COURSE OF ACTION: The most dangerous action that can be taken against us is if the enemy assaults our platoon with all available forces, and utilizes their limited armour abilities against us. B. FRIENDLY FORCES HIGHER’S MISSION & INTENT: Our company’s mission is to retake the city of AROBSTER, and deny the enemy access to the city from the NORTH. ADJACENT UNITS: ALPHA 2 will attack AROBSTER from the SOUTH. Their objective is to capture RADAR STATION and defend the city from the EAST. C. ATTACHMENTS/DETACHMENTS Our platoon is supported by 1x T-72 tank platoon, albeit only 1 tank is operable due to mechanical failures. The tank has been transferred to the command of ALPHA 1 under the callsign SIERRA 1-2. 1x Motorized recon scout team, originally attached to the tank platoon, has been transferred to our platoon’s command. They utilize a motorbike as a means of transportation and go under the callsign of KILO 1-1. ALPHA 1-4 is an ordinary riflesquad, utilizing motorized vehicles such as HMMW's or transport trucks. Given room, they could be moved into another squad's vehicle. D. CIVIL/TERRAIN CONSIDERATIONS TERRAIN CONSIDERATIONS: AROBSTER is situated on a large open plain, surrounded by mountains to the south and east. A dry riverbed runs from the east to west, situated just north of the city. The view distance is up to 3000-4000 meters on mountaintops, down towards 25m within the city. The engagement distances are medium to long outside the city. Night is approaching, your platoon is equipped with NVG equipment. CIVIL CONSIDERATIONS: No civilians are present according to our intelligence.
1st Platoon from the 7th Mechanized Unit is tasked with retaking the town of AROBSTER.
A. CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS 1. SCHEME OF MANEUVER 1st Platoon will assault the city of AROBSTER from the WEST, with the goal of retaking FOB AROBSTER, FIRESTATION and COMPOUND. Thereafter, at commander’s discretion, defend the city from enemy counter-attacks from the NORTH. B. TASKS ALPHA 1-1 At commander’s discretion. ALPHA 1-2 At commander’s discretion. ALPHA 1-3 At commander’s discretion. ALPHA 1-4 At commander’s discretion. SIERRA 1-2 At commander’s discretion. SIERRA 1-3 At commander’s discretion. C. COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS It is crucial to our mission that we utilize our armored assets well, and push the enemy out through superior firepower and manuevering around the enemy's positions. As the enemy has a hard time to coordinate on a platoon level, their reaction is expected to be slow and sluggish.
